Father's Day 2011

This year we celebrated Father's Day with a dinner (and yummy cheesecake dessert) at home.  It was really nice to have my family over.
My dad and Kayla had a good time playing and being silly.  They are so sweet together!  I am grateful that he is in her life!  He's such a good daddy.

Thankfully, Jeremy was off from work for the whole weekend so we got to spend a lot of time together, too.
Hubba, hubba!

Just as I was blessed with a great daddy, so is Kayla.  She loves him so much and he would do anything for her.

I love seeing them together.  My favorite is when Jeremy comes home from work and Kayla picks the pockets of his scrubs for chapstick, pens, and sometimes a permanent marker.  She recognizes the logo for his favorite drink (Monster-yuck!) and always points to his chair at the table when he is not home to eat with us.  During the day, she'll ask for him and I'll say, "Where is Daddy?"  She usually says, "Home," but lately she's been saying "Car!" because we see him leave in the morning in his car.  Although she can say work, she apparently doesn't like to in reference to daddy!

(Oh, and my mom was there, but the only pic I took of her was a silly one, so I'll forgo posting it here!)

20 Months and 20 Weeks

Today marks the halfway point of my 2nd pregnancy, so I thought that warranted a belly shot (or two):
about 10 weeks
now at 20 weeks

So far, everything has been going well and our last sonogram showed that little Sabrina Danielle is growing fabulously.  She is more active than I remember Kayla being, so I am getting alot of kicks.  Thankfully, they are just in my lower belly and not in my ribs, for now.  I like the website that compares the baby's size to fruit, so this week she is my cantaloupe baby.
Little Sabrina, just chillin' at 18 weeks.
We are trying to prepare Kayla for little sister's arrival.  So far, she likes to kiss mommy's belly and "poke" Sabrina through my belly button.  Jeremy and I are so excited for Kayla to have a sister, since neither of us did.  We hope they are best friends and love each other dearly.  Kayla is very affectionate and loves to take care of her babies.  I am actually a little worried that Sabrina will be hers instead of ours...shouts of "MINE" are dancing in my head.
The little momma sharing her "moak."
Breakfast with "doll doll," the Cabbage Patch type doll
 my grandma handmade for me.
This last month has just been amazing as Kayla has taken off with language.  I love asking her to say new words and hearing her either say it completely or pretty close.  She now says yoga, church, Barbie, eat, poop, work...and the list is growing.  She has finished the endings to some words she was already expressing, so now she says moon, hat, cat, mess, and baby.  When she hands me something she says "Here you go!" and is starting to say "Thank you" unprompted (we are still working on "please" and "you're welcome.")  She is also learning the characters from Sesame Street, her favorite thing to watch.  She says Elmo, Eee (Ernie), Boop (Bert), Ba (Big Bird), and Abby.
The Means Fam with Grover!
Abby is finally at Sea World!

Being a toddler, there are some words that Kayla tries, but doesn't quite say correctly.  Some of my favorites are bup (cup), gink (drink), butt --ha!-- (button/belly button), he (music), who (shoe), Hish (Stitch, our cat), Pee (Penny, our other cat), and woot (any guesses??? yeah, that's how she says "soap").  Oh, to have an older brother around while she says all these fun words, enter Uncle Sean.

Kayla loves to help mommy around the house with laundry, unloading the dishwasher, throwing things in the trash, and trying to help me cook.  While coloring she has learned to identify blue (boo), green (geek), white, and pink.  She is noticing these colors in other places, too.  I guess it's the teacher in me, but I love watching her learn!

Practicing pouring...
"Reading" in the car--I love it!

Copying Uncle Sean and Grandpa, both of whom
were sitting at dinner with their arms crossed!

And that hat...her favorite.  I love seeing her try to pull it onto her head.  It probably gets more and more snug everyday, considering that it is an infant size.  For some reason, it seems to be her TV-watching hat.  I love this little girl!
