Toy Story Weekend - Austin Children's Museum

Jeremy was at work one day a few months ago and heard about Toy Story 3 on ice coming to Cedar Park (north of Austin), so he got the tickets and we decided to make a weekend out of it.  This was the first time we had traveled with the girls and stayed in a hotel with them (we hadn't even done this with Kayla!).  To my surprise, we had a wonderful weekend and nothing worse than I expected happened with sleeping arrangements (which was our main concern).

We started off at the Austin Children's Museum, which is incredible!  There is an entire room of exhibits that uses golf balls to show force, ramps, speed, angles, and tons of other cool concepts.  This was one of Kayla's favorite parts and it kept us so busy, I have no pictures of it.

Such a big girl to be sitting up!  She still needs support because she'll topple over easily, though!
This is the tiny tot spot where Sabrina and I played for quite a while (she's holding a golf ball).
We watched this go over and over!  Sabrina's head went side to side like she was watching a tennis match!

The piggy parachute drop held Kayla's attention for quite a while.  The parachute is attached to a clip and you operate the pulley to bring the clip to the top where it opens in a funnel to send the piggy sailing down!

I love these art pieces that were mounted on plexi-glass over the windows.  If you look closely you can tell that all the objects are bottle caps from soda, detergent, and other recycled lids.

We made a rolling vehicle and tested it on this ramp.

"Will you make me a taco?"

This volume station was surprisingly interesting to her...it was toward the end of our trip and we were waiting for her to get bored but she was enthralled for at least 30 minutes.  Good thing Sabrina was snoozing in the wrap!
This will be a fun place to visit again as the girls grow up because there were tons of exhibits and many were for older kids.
Driving to the hotel, hand still reaching for a goldfish!

A New Friend

This morning Daddy took Kayla out to run errands with him, while I got to stay home with Sabrina and we all got good one-on-one time.  When they got back, Kayla ran up to me and whispered, "I got dolls!"  Apparently "running errands" with includes going to the Disney store...

She loves her new little friend!

Happy Easter!

This is the first year that Kayla will actually somewhat get Easter, so I did all the fun stuff (with the help of my favorite Easter Bunny, Kiki!).  Easter basket, hiding filled eggs, and reading about Jesus in her toddler Bible (the Easter Bunny wanted to tell her all about Him!).

Good Easter Morning!

Sisters!  These girls sure love each other!

"Smile smaller, Kayla."  And this is what I get!

Swinging after church and Sunday School.  Can't believe Sabrina is old enough to swing in the baby swings!

They really crack each other up!
Although we have our girls around us today, we miss being able to see Grandma & Grandpa and Granny & PawPaw and all the girls' uncles and aunt.  Have a blessed Easter as we celebrate Jesus' triumph over death!

Potty Training Update

It's been 11 days since we began potty training with Kayla.  She has been doing great!  She has gone 2 days now without an accident and many more days without a #1 accident.  The best thing for keeping her dry has been keeping her pants-free or just wearing loose pants around the house.  And, yes, keeping her potty in the dining room where it is easily accessible has helped, too.
Her training potty has actually turned into a hub for her daily activities...eating, reading, doing puzzles, coloring, etc.!  She still gets M&Ms for going potty but this seems to be just a fun thing now, not mainly a motivating factor, so we'll be pulling back on that.

I ask her if she needs to go potty and she answers, "No, I just need to play!"  She has been great about asking to go when she needs to or just going on her own, so mainly I just ask to remind her to think about it.

She is great about going on the big potties when we are out and doesn't mind the loud flush anymore.  We even took a trip to the zoo yesterday and she stayed dry!!  I am so proud of my big girl!
